The Buck Knives Knight has been around for quite awhile but is still as handy and useful as ever. I have owned several Buck Knives and have to admit that this is one of my favorite Buck Knives by a long shot.

What you will get with the Buck Knives Knight is a stainless steel blade of 1.88 inches. This is just right for pocket carry and perfect for general use. I don’t know if I’d try using this Buck Knives legend on the project of skinning a deer as you may be at it for some time. But, the little Buck Knives pocket knife is perfect for the daily tasks that takes a rugged knife to handle.

Buck Knives Knight Locking Device

This Buck Knives knife is a lock back that will lock solidly in place when in use. Your not going to find the lock giving out on this one of many lock blade Buck Knives. This lock will hold out through any abuse you put it through.

The Buck Knives overall length is 4.63 inches; which is just right for daily use. It isn’t too big so that you are clumsy when you are doing you cutting and it isn’t too small making it impossible to get any good use out of it. This Buck Knives classic is designed with the end-user in mind and the daily tasks that may be challenged with this knife.

Buck Knives are made from quality treated steel that will last quite some time if you sharpen your Buck folding knives or fixed blade Buck Knives properly. It is really easy to do and you should not have a problem sharpening your Buck Knives if you stick to using a steel or a sharpening kit.

Buck Knives are easiest sharpened using a sharpening steel when you need to put that sharp edge back on any of your Buck folding knives. Think of the blade as forming a microscopic curl, for lack of better words, as you use your Buck knives for a variety of purposes.</p.

This curl on your Buck knives is what makes these folding knives seem so dull and lose their ability to cut just about anything. The idea is to use a sharpening steel to fold that curled blade on your Buck knives back to a normal straight blade.

To get that curl out of your Buck knives, you will want to grab a steel firmly in you off-hand and one of your Buck folding knives in the other hand. You will want to strike the blade of any of your Buck knives at about a thirty degree angle and continue to alternate to each side of your Buck folding knives blade.</p.

You will want to strike each side of you Buck knives blades about thirty or forty times to start unfolding that invisible curl that I mentioned earlier. Every now and then, take a break and check the sharpness of your blade. Trust me, using a steel to sharpen your Buck knives will take a bit of elbow grease and your forearms will welcome the break.

That is about it for successful Buck knives blade sharpening with a steel. Please, I welcome all comments and pointers in regards to Buck Knives sharpening. You will be spreading your Buck Knives sharpening knowledge to all of us with the need to know. Maybe you have a tip or two. Please, drop a comment on how you sharpen your Buck knives.

Buck Knives has a pretty good little line of knives they call the Silver Creek Buck Knives. I really like these knives and they are priced extremely fair, or to be honest, they are cheap but certainly not constructed cheaply.

The Silver Creek Buck Knives Bait Knife is a good looking knife that fits snugly in the grip and is perfect for trimming bait or just about any other outdoor use you may have in mind. This Buck Knives bait cutting knife is made from 420J2 steel. Now, that may not be a great thing, but for this price, it ain’t bad.

The thing with the Buck Knives 420J2 steel is that it will not hold an edge for long. So, if you intend on using this knife for field work, you may want to keep your sharpening steel handy because you will certainly need to put an edge on this thing quite often. But, this is what brings the cost down; cheap steel.

I have always been fond of the Buck Knives folders that remind me of my Granddad. Let me give you a few examples to go by. I guess the reason these particular Buck Knives remind me of my Granddad is because he used to carry one just like them.

Buck Knives Stockman

Buck Knives Cadet

Buck Knives Lancer

Buck Knives Companion

All of these Buck Knives are top-of-the-line as only Buck Knives can do it. You will commonly find the 420HC steel as mentioned in my earlier Buck Knives Alpha Dorado post. This steel is not really the best stuff, but the way Buck Knives treats it, it will keep a blade sharp for quite some time and is very corrosive resistant. In other words, less sharpening and oiling; which would make any bust man happy.

The Buck Knives are tried and approved by thousands of Buck lovers before you. So don’t worry about latching onto something that isn’t going to stand up to the test you’re about to put it through, because these little knives will last and you will certainly be impressed.

When you purchase a Buck knife like one of these, you are purchasing an American made product. This is rare these days and I sure hope Buck Knives doesn’t sell out on us anytime soon because I sure am proud of them for keeping it in country. It seems like most manufacturers are heading overseas.

I sure would appreciate any comments on these Buck Knives. I am antsy to see more first-hand feedback from anyone that carries these knives. I’m happy with mine, but I also sell them. I keep it honest, but some folks may see the biased in that. I don’t blame them. So, let me know what you folks think.

Buck Knives is famous for its top-of-the-line manufactured knives at very good prices. There are so many Buck Knives that I could recommend to you for a variety of purposed that it is extremely difficult for me to narrow it down to a single knife.

What I have done for this Buck Knives blog entry is explored the Knife & Supply Company Buck Knives Section and came up with the most practical all-purpose Buck Knife that I could find. This was not easy as there are many that would fit into this description and narrowing it down to my chosen resulted in a remaining five. I could not choose between these based on anything but appearance because they all offer great features.

Buck Knives Alpha Dorado

My practical Buck Knives choice for this blog entry was the Buck Knives Alpha Dorado. There are many reasons for this but the overwhelming best thing about this knife is its all-around practicality. This Buck knife is practical for just about anything you could need from hunting and skinning to trimming your finger nails should you be the hard-core manicuring type.

The overall length of this Buck knife is six and a half inches. This is, for my personal preference, a perfect length. The knife is not so long that it is uncomfortable or difficult to carry when you do not want the world to see it, such as in your pocket. It is definitely not so small in length that it cannot serve any useful purpose. As I said, it is a perfect length.

The blade length is two and a half inches. Again, I like this length. You do not need much more blade than that for really any purpose unless you plan on entering a fencing competition with your Buck knife; which I would not recommend. This blade length makes the knife easy to sharpen and maintain. It also is not going to snap the first time you decide to use it as a pry bar. Don’t act like you haven’t used your Buck knife as a pry before. You are not fooling me.

The steel used to produce this knife is 420HC. I am not going to sit here and lie to you, this is a lesser quality steel. However, ask anyone in the know, Buck Knives does this steel right by treating it properly in the manufacturing process. This will allow this steel to be very corrosion resistant and hold an edge for a good amount of time. Do not for a minute think that you will get out of sharpening this blade every now and then, because you will. Just do it right.

You will find that the contour and everybody’s favorite current day term, ergonomics, of this knife are just right. When doing a bit of long term carving, that little muscle between my thumb and pointer finger can sure get worn out. Weird huh? Well, I am not pulling your leg. The nice thing about the Alpha Dorado by Buck Knives is the simple fact that it just feels comfortable to me when I use it like this. It does not wear my hand out. Maybe there is something to this ergonomics stuff.

Well folks, that pretty much sums up my Buck Knives Alpha Dorado review. I recommend it highly for an everyday knife. The retail price is about $70 or so depending on where you go. You can get the Buck Knives Alpha Dorado from Knife & Supply Company, LLC for about $45 as of today. Stop by and grab one. We carry them in the Charcoal handle and the Rosewood. Both are pretty knives that will take some abuse.

One of the greatest things about Buck knives is there forever warranty. That is exactly what it means. The Buck knives warranty never expires for as long as you own your knife.

However, with a warranty, there are always a few stipulations. When it comes to Buck knives, those stipulations are beyond reasonable and boil down to plain common sense.

Buck knives will not repair or replace a knife under the forever warranty if any of the below criteria happen to be your situation. So, remember these below items because they will absolutely void your Buck knives warranty. Ok, I warned you.

Any obvious misuse or abuse will void the warranty.

Obvious failure to maintain and keep your Buck knives clean will void the warranty, and probably offend the Buck knives warranty repairman. You should show a little more pride in that knife.

For all you do-it-yourselfers out there, sit this one out. Don’t go to trying to fix your Buck knife. That will void the warranty and make you a very unhappy camper.

This one kind of sucks, but this is just the way it is. Shipping between the Buck knives factory and your casa (That means house for you non-Spanish speakers.) is at your own risk. If the knife is lost in the mail, tough luck. Or, you can drop by Knife & Supply Company and buy another one. I know, you can thank me later.

Never, never, never sharpen your knife on a grinder. That ain’t a wise thing to do. All you’ll wind up with is a dull and tiny blade by the time you’re finished. About the only type of individual that should attempt this is a knife maker. If you are a knife maker, I guess you won’t be worried about a Buck knives warranty to begin with.

There you have it folks, the Buck Knives warranty break-down brought to you by me. Only the foolish will void this warranty as it is the famous forever warranty. So, don’t screw it up by dismantling your Buck knife and attempting to reengineer it. Or, you will be stuck with it.

There are so many Buck Knives to choose from that it has taken me quite the effort to narrow them down to the five that I find to be the “coolest”. However, I have done it. Now, do not think that my opinion will change next week, because it sure might.

Of course, the first thing that I did to narrow down my choices is to base them on looks. Isn’t that how we all judge everything? We look something over, cast a judgment, and then examine it closer. Our opinion may change then, but that first impression is always persuaded by appearance.

When it comes to Buck Knives, the buyer is going to get top quality and skilled craftsmanship regardless of the price range of the Buck knife or the materials used. Buck Knives has always done an outstanding job on creating some of the finest cutting pieces in the world.

Another thing that makes it tough to narrow done a few favorites is the fact that all Buck Knives are of the top quality that I mentioned above. Of course, many knife makers have influenced and created the manufactured designs of Buck Knives. But, they all are excellent blades built to last for as long as you will.

Buck Knives Ranger

I guess I will have to go with a Buck Knives classic to kick off my first favorite. The Buck Ranger is a classic and a beautiful and rugged knife. This is a great starter knife for any youngster. You can learn proper knife sharpening on this pocket knife and abuse the heck out of it.

Buck Knives Vanguard

The Buck Knives Vanguard is one of my fixed blade knives and is definitely my favorite when it comes to Buck Knives. This is an extremely rugged knife and will work over a nice hunting trophy before you’ll need to sharpen it again.

Buck Knives Alpha Hunter

Last but not least, I am a huge fan of the Buck Knives Alpha Hunter. In my humble opinion, this is a combination of a great hunting knife and a perfect everyday carry knife. This knife is rough and tough and is typical of Buck’s solid design.

There you have it folks. My three favorite Buck Knives.

There is nothing more important to keeping the value and quality of your Buck Knives as high and good as possible than a good amount of maintenance. Allow me to run you through a few pointers and tips on your Buck Knives and how to go about doing this quickly and properly.

Never throw your Buck Knives or hammer and pound with the. Also chopping with your Buck Knives can damage the blade or twist the finely sharpened edge. It is important to keep the edge straight. You may not be able to see the bent edge with the naked eye.

The lock blade on your locking blade Buck Knives can be damaged, although this rarely happens. Always check this before depending on it with a simple push to ensure that the lock is secure and working.

Buck Knives Tips

Ensure that your Buck Knives are kept dry including the handles and blades.

Keep the moving parts and locking devices clean on your Buck Knives.

You should oil the pivot points and the blade of your Buck Knives weekly or twice a month.

Always sharpen your Buck Knives. The sharper the blade the safer.

Send your damaged Buck Knives to the Buck company for repairs. Self repair will void the warranty.

Discoloration in your Buck Knives is a precursor to rust. When you see this; whether the blade be turning black or blue or another odd color, clean it immediately.

Rust in your Buck Knives can be detrimental to keeping it working and safe. Rust is corrosive and causes small pits to form in the metal. Use oil to remove light rust. Heaver rust may require some elbow grease and an abrasive substance.

The biggest key to maintenance is simple repetition. Keep your Buck Knives oiled on a regular basis. Even if you store your knife, take it out every now and then and lube it with a light coat of oil to keep it from rusting. Once the rust sets in, it is a pain to remove.

Many people allow the blade to dull on their Buck knives and never sharpen them again or they simply do not keep them sharp. Understand that a dull blade is more dangerous than a sharp one. Many people refute this fact without understanding it. A dull knife will cut much nastier and cause much more damage than a sharp one. A dull or a sharp blade will cut you; one as easy as the other.

With all of these tips in mind, you can make your Buck Knives last generations to be proudly passed down. Take care of them, you will be happy you did.

Collecting Buck Knives is one of the oldest hobbies around when it comes to collecting knives at all. Buck Knives Company has been around for a very long time and many of their products are very valuable today. If you are planning on a start in knife collecting, this is a great route to go.

Buck knives do appreciate in value. It isn’t like investing in gold or the stock market, but you can gain some increased value by purchasing a few and hanging on to them for awhile. However, the biggest payoff for me and many folks is to just display them and show them off.

How do I display them and show them off? Well, there are many ways to go about displaying your Buck knives. I have a couple of preferred methods that I use but I have to be straight with you here. This is no way I could display every Buck knife I have. I simply do not have the wall space. So, I have a little rotation system that is simple. When I want a change in the décor of my room, I rotate the knives around and send the old displays into storage for awhile.

My favorite display system is a simple military medals shadow box. The shadow box makes a great Buck knives display and can even be modified to hold a small lamp to brighten up the display. These shadow boxes are relatively cheap and can be found in some of your large hobby stores or even at the general department stores for five or ten dollars.

I simply arrange the shadow boxes along each wall in two rows to show off my Buck knives. I have one entire wall of Buck knives and the other walls are for the other manufactured knife brands that I collect.

That’s about all there is to it. Simply show those knives off and be proud of them. That’s what Buck knives collecting is all about.
